New year – new goals

Can’t believe it’s been so long since I blogged!! So, for this year, my goal is to lose 50 lbs. – again!! Yep, I started the weight loss journey in 2004. By August 2005 I had lost 70.5 lbs. and was at the same weight as the day I got married – EXACTLY! Maintained for about a year, then the reverse started. During the next five years, I re-gained 50 of those pounds, so now I have to go thru the process again! It’s going to be difficult since I am now post-menopausal (I know, TMI!), but being healthy is SO worth the effort it takes. Since the first of Dec. I am down 5.5 lbs., a slow start, but definitely on the downhill slide.
Also, since New Year’s, I was able to re-connect with a high school friend – thru Facebook, no less. I really wasn’t close to too many classmates in high school – rather introverted and unsure of myself. I don’t know that much has changed in that regard, but it is so good to renew acquaintances.
Secondly, I vow to post to my blog more often. Hopefully, I will be able to post some photos also. Not much is going on in the netherlands of MT this winter – with the exception of a heart catherization for hubby in the beginning of December. We have had an extreme cold snap that disappeared for a few days, but now it looks as if it will return. The middle of January and I am already so tired of winter! If I could win a big lottery, I would be willing to become a snowbird – or at least work just half the year in MT and then go back to Indiana and take care of my 92 (almost 93) yr. old Dad thru the winter months. It bothers me that he tries to clear his steps and driveway of snow. He has fallen twice in the last few months. No major damage, but at that age, even a minor spill results in lasting pain in the muscles.
* Footnote: Hubby doesn’t have any heart problems. Heart specialist thinks the problem is his acid reflux, which can mimic heart attack, etc. And the hospital only charges $20,000 for that bit of information(plus the dr. fees, etc.)!!!
